An auction of jewellery worn by the most famous players in hip-hop has been announced to take place next month.Source: NME
‘Hip Hop's Crown Jewels’ will be held by Phillips de Pury & Company in New York, where 70 lots will go on sale, currently valued at $3 million.
Pieces worn by Notorious BIG, P. Diddy and 50 Cent will go under the hammer, as well as items worn by Rihanna, Lil Jon, Jay-Z, Kanye West and more.
The auction will raise money for Rush Community Affairs, Russell Simmons' coalition of nonprofit organizations including Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network and the Diamond Empowerment Fund.
Some of the items to be sold include Missy Elliott's ‘Diamond Turntable Ring’, Slick Rick's ‘Multicolor Diamond Eye Patch’ , a ‘Diamond and Ruby Crown Ring’ worn by and engraved ‘Pac & Dada 1996’, (referring to Quincy Jones’ daughter Kidada) and Biggie Small's ‘UniqueWristwatch’.
Lil Jon's ‘Guinness World Record Diamond Pendant’ bearing the words "Crunk Ain't Dead" will also be sold. The pendant is included in ‘Guinness World Records’ as the Largest Diamond Pendant.
