Bill Clinton visits North Korea to Free US Journalists [POLITICS]

BURBANK, Calif. — Two American journalists jubilantly reunited with family and friends early Wednesday upon returning to the United States with former President Bill Clinton, whose diplomatic trip to North Korea secured their release nearly five months after their arrests.

The jet carrying Euna Lee and Laura Ling, reporters for Al Gore's San Francisco-based Current TV, and Clinton arrived at Burbank's Bob Hope Airport at dawn. Clinton met with communist leader Kim Jong Il on Tuesday to secure the women's release.

Obama 'Special Olympics' Crack On Tonight Show [VIDEO]

So apparently this is a big deal...Barry O was on Leno and made an off hand remark referring to the audience applauding his abysmal bowling score to that of the cheers given to individual who are in the special olympics. Maybe little of the mark as far as tact, but he made a joke on a show about making jokes...not to mention there actually being such a thing as a handicap in the game of bowling.

As Mr. Obama prepares to be sworn in on Tuesday as the 44th president, the hoopla is reaching a higher level with a round of products and advertisements pegged to the inauguration.

The new items include bottles of Hennessy Cognac, bearing labels that read “44”; commemorative issues of publications like The New Yorker, Newsweek, USA Today and The Washington Post; and T-shirts from the Presidential Inaugural Committee that urge “Be the change.”

Obama's First Foreign Trip As President: Canada

If whatever reason you end up being the only person not in D.C. on the 20th, and you live up here in Hollywood North...you may be able to catch a glimpse. Nebby!

WASHINGTON — President-elect Barack Obama plans to take his first international trip to Canada.

Transition aides said Saturday that Obama picked the United States' northern neighbor as his first venture outside the country as president. Aides say they could not discuss the date for the trip or its agenda.

A transition official says aides to the president-elect and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper discussed the trip in recent days. But the official says Obama and Harper themselves have not directly discussed the trip.

Obama meets Monday with Mexican President Felipe Calderon, his first in-person meeting with a world leader since winning election.

U.S. presidents typically use Canada as their first international trip.

"It's good news, a sign of the importance of this relationship to both countries. We look forward to hosting the new president," Kory Teneycke, Harper's press secretary, said from Ottawa. "The fact remains that our two countries are very important trading partners to one another, that we are friends and allies."

Jay-Z Headlining Inauguration Weekend Club Party In D.C.

The Brooklyn rapper Jay-Z, whose lyrics President-elect Barack Obama channeled on the campaign trail in a swipe at his former rival, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, will headline an inaugural weekend opening party in Washington.

Jay-Z, along with singer Akon, and rappers T.I. and Young Jeezy, will perform at the Love nightclub on Friday, Jan. 16, the club's owner, Marc Barnes, said in an interview on Monday.

Obama's Grandmother Dies At Age 86

On the eve of the election this is the statement from Barack and his sister Maya:

"It is with great sadness that we announce that our grandmother, Madelyn Dunham, has died peacefully after a battle with cancer. She was the cornerstone of our family, and a woman of extraordinary accomplishment, strength, and humility. She was the person who encouraged and allowed us to take chances. She was proud of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and left this world with the knowledge that her impact on all of us was meaningful and enduring. Our debt to her is beyond measure.


"Our family wants to thank all of those who sent flowers, cards, well-wishes, and prayers during this difficult time. It brought our grandmother and us great comfort. Our grandmother was a private woman, and we will respect her wish for a small private ceremony to be held at a later date. If you didn't hear about it, the Obama campaign ran a 30 minute commercial on 7 major news networks last night from 8:00pm - 8:30pm. It cost in upward of $5,000,000 was watched by about 23 million viewers, and in my opinion was impeccably done. Duke looked very presidential, and you got the sense that he's ready to take on the 21st century for the betterment the world, not just the U.S.A.

ATF disrupts skinhead plot to assassinate Obama

DAMN! He hasn't even won yet!

Federal agents have broken up a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama and shoot or decapitate 102 black people in a Tennessee murder spree, the ATF said Monday.

In court records unsealed Monday, federal agents said they disrupted plans to rob a gun store and target a predominantly African-American high school by two neo-Nazi skinheads. Agents said the skinheads did not identify the school by name.
Jim Cavanaugh, special agent in charge of the Nashville field office for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, said the two men planned to shoot 88 black people and decapitate another 14. The numbers 88 and 14 are symbolic in the white supremacist community.

The men also sought to go on a national killing spree, with Obama as its final target, Cavanaugh told The Associated Press.

"They said that would be their last, final act — that they would attempt to kill Sen. Obama," Cavanaugh said. "They didn't believe they would be able to do it, but that they would get killed trying."

Police: McCain Volunteer's "Mutilation" Story Made Up

A McCain campaign volunteer who reported that a tall black man robbed her and then cut a "B" onto her cheek after seeing a McCain bumper sticker on her car has been given a polygraph test because of "inconsistencies" in her story, police said.

This is so wrong on so many levels...but there are a lot of crazies out there!

*UPDATE*

A Pittsburgh police commander says a volunteer for the McCain campaign who reported being robbed and attacked near a bank ATM in Bloomfield has confessed to making up the story. Police say charges will be filed.

Colin Powell Endorses Barack Obama

I went to see W. last night, and after watching it (if the story is actually based on any truth) you see that Gen. Powell was an independent thinker, and typically broke away from the Bush administration. Nonetheless, this is great news for Obama, and pretty bad news for McCain as he and Gen. Powell are friends, and have been so for over 25 years.
