Common Projects Achilles Raw High Tops [SHOES]

The Achilles Raw is an offering from Common Projects Spring/Summer 2010 collection made using top shelf Italian raw leather. They feature suede laces, stylized leather accents, and the CP trademarked vulcanized sole, and number stamp. Also available in a low top, but I much prefer the way these look. Up for grabs now at Caliroots.

K’naan’s “Wavin’ Flag” is one of the standout tracks from his Troubadour album and has becomesomething of a phenomenon thanks to its timely message of strength and solidarity. Hot Tub Time Machine [REVIEW]

Last night I attended a screening of one of the best films ever made...eat shit Casablanca! Alright, not quite but it was by far one of the most hilarious pieces of film I have ever had the joy of watching. Premise? John, Rob, Craig, and Clark are friends who travel back to the 80's via a hot tub time machine and hilarity ensues (i.e. brainstorming million dollar ideas that they steal from the future like combining viagra and twitter...aka twitagra). It is a twisted homage to 80's teen films, like those that made the John Cusask, and Chevy Chase legends, but combines the crude brand comedy Craig Robinson, and Rod Corddry are known for. Not sold? Take a look at the red band trailer here.

In theatres March 26th.

Michael Leon for Bodega [ART]

I really like this. I actually can't seem to find the official title of this Michael Leon piece (I have aptly titled it Pisa Lean), so if someone knows, please fill me in. Nevertheless, this, along with an array of other works, is part of the Bodega collection which is curated under the premise of being eco-friendly, and contemporary done on a larger scale that most releases. A great way to give new and established artists a platform to share their work with the world.

Daniel Merriweather - Love & War [MUSIC]

Th Australian crooner, Daniel Merriweather, has quickly become a favourite of mine. I rifled through youtube for a sampling of his catalogue after watching The Ugly Truth and picked out his song; "Chainsaw" that was featured in the film. The debut album is a solid effort, and his sound is very remiscent to some of the greats...Stevie, Prince, D'Angelo...even some Jamiroquai.

Love & War is available now on iTunes.

Cold Souls [MOVIES]

I can honestly say that I was not impressed with Paul Giamatti's acting chops until I watched, and thoroughly enjoyed the man kill it in the HBO mini series John Adams. That was simply brilliant acting. I had never taken him seriously before that...and with really only remembering him in films like Dr. Dolittle and Big Momma's House, it's easy to see how. Anyway, we've come a long way since then, and my sense of humour has darkened greatly. With that Cold Souls has proven to be an absolute gem of a film. Being John Malkovich x Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind x a brand of witty dialogue that meshes it all together to create a film worth watching...in my opinion. Check it out on iTunes.
