John Varvatos x ZZ Ad Campaign [ADVERTISING]

Original "Baaawwwssse" hogs.

A recent John Varvatos ad campaign featured the musicians from Franz Ferdinand but the latest ads reach a bit further back into the music archives. To match his rock and roll fashions he has chosen the members of ZZ Top to star in his FW09 campaign. View on Fashion reports that Danny Clinch, a regular collaborator with Varvatos, is behind the black and white photos which have the band's three members posing in the Los Angeles Natural History Museum. The ads look great, maybe every girl really is crazy about a sharp-dressed man.

The Sartorialist by Scott Schumann [BOOKS]

A collection of some of the most popular photographs of fashion enablers around the globe. A perfect conversation piece in my opinion. Hits shelves August 12th, 2009. Pre-Order available here.

*Related. Very interesting interview with The Globe & Mail..
“Every rapper says, If I was not doing this, I would be in jail. And basically, I’m a rapper, only I’m a photographer. So if I wasn’t doing this, I would definitely be in jail.”

Andre Benjamin x Holt Renfrew Launch “Benjamin Bixby”[FASHION]

I should have gone to this yesterday.

via Holt Renfrew

Spring 2009

Home Base: New York City.

Bio: Last fall, the multitalented André Benjamin, otherwise known as OutKast musician André 3000, launched his men's clothing line, Benjamin Bixby. Although the label includes his surname, he decided not to christen it with his full moniker, telling the press, "I didn't want it to be about a celebrity." As the label's designer and creative director, he's taken a completely hands-on approach and sketches every item in the collection himself.

Vision and Influences: A '30s documentary on American college football inspired the overall brand and its vintage approach. His first collection featured collegiate, preppy styles, while his spring line channels 19th-century India. "My vision," says Benjamin, "is to tell a variety of stories through the apparel experience."

Signature Style: Think dapper and eclectic meets traditional and tailored. "The Benjamin Bixby man is a rebel gent," says Benjamin. "He likes classics with extraordinary styling."

Spring 2009: Benjamin says, "It's all about colonial India: the black madras tux, the over-dyed polo with underarm details and the khaki cotton suit with a map of India lining."

Your Perfect Day: "Wake up. Find the perfect outfit to match my mood. Eat a tasty lunch. Watch American football all day. Sleep. Repeat."

FTL: Rihanna Please Don't Hurt 'Em!

Another For The Ladies Post (though I never tire from looking at Rihanna), this one is lifted this from my homegirl Sham, becauseI figured my lady friends would truly appreciate it. Rihanna did her thing at the Superbowl Pepsi Smash concert in Tampa, and hit them with some boots that are, in my opinion, a harmonious mixture of frightening and fashionable! I know couple of girls who would kill these!

American Apparel x Porn Stars [ADVERTISING]

Often described by journalists and bloggers--and rightfully so--as bordering on soft amateur pornography, American Apparel fully embraces the reputation with a new wave of ads that feature women from the adult industry as models.

FTL: La Perla's Luxe Lingerie for Valentine's Day

It would be a Happy Valentine's Day indeed!

"The La Perla woman makes the effort, but makes things look effortless. For Valentine's Day she wants to look her best and makes sure she takes care of her man. On Valentine's Day, she reserves a suite at the Greenwich Hotel, complete with a view of the New York harbor and a cozy fireplace. She buys several sets of La Perla lingerie, and takes her time to prepare so everything is just so. She then awaits for her man's arrival and presents the ultimate Valentine's gift - herself."

A Day In the Life of Kanye West, Fashion Intern

So I posted the news about Kanye expressing interest in interning for Louis Vuitton or Raf Simons a few days back. Now, Complex Mag has gone on to outline how Yeezy's day would play out...simply hilarious!

• ‘Ye gets to work 13 minutes early—but doesn’t actually make it into the office until 9:20 after he’s informed that Intern Valet Parking doesn’t exist.

9:23 AM
• ‘Ye’s new boss asks him to go out for coffee. Surprisingly, Kanye agrees and returns 10 minutes later with the order perfectly executed, including change and receipt.

9:34 AM
• ‘Ye sends out his first company-wide, subject-only email: “HOW FUCKING HOT WAS THAT COFFEE???!!! AHHHHHHHH!!!!!”

Kanye West Would Like To Intern For Raf Simons?

This was news to me...almost "WTF" style news. Would I intern at Raf? fu** yeah, but my sentiments mirror those of Raf. Can you have Kanye as your intern?
:s

KANYE WEST, the infamously self-assured singer who stated to The Associated Press last month that he “will go down as the voice of this generation,” is apparently far more humble when it comes to fashion. In the hope of better understanding the design process, Mr. West has announced that he wants to take time off from his music career and intern at a fashion house. Preferably, Louis Vuitton or Raf Simons.

“I was blown away from the planet when he told me,” said Mr. Simons, by phone from Antwerp, Belgium. “I know he’s very serious about this — I don’t take it as a joke — but how can I imagine him being my intern? It’s a very extreme situation.”
