I blogged about this album so much it was only appropriate I present the first week sales results par Billboard. I must say...less than stellar numbers but #1 nonetheless. Recession?

The Roc-A-Fella/Def Jam set moved 450,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan, the artist’s lowest debut sales frame since his first album, “The College Dropout,” bowed with 441,000 in 2004.

His last release, “Graduation,” began with 957,000 at No. 1 last year, while sophomore set “Late Registration” checked in with 860,000 at No. 1 in 2005.

808s & Heartbreak in stores Nov. 25th

This is the official album artwork for Kanye's new album, and I have come across 2 more leaks for everyone as well! I can honestly say that this album seems to come completely out of left field to me, and probably most others but I am very receptive and can feel it. I guess to try and put things in a little perspective it is music from a man who has lost his mom, and then went on to end what looked like a budding relationship on it's way to marriage. Relationships are tough, and nothing mends a broken heart like a heavy bass line and a vocoder....just ask Zapp & Roger!

Kanye - 808’s & Heartbreak Tracklisting (Unofficial)

Last night, Kanye West publicly debuted his new album, 808s & Heartbreak, at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles via a collaboration with Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft. After waiting in a loading area with an open bar and a DJ, we walked up a driveway illuminated by florescent lights to a darkened room where approximately forty nude women, most of them wearing face-obscuring masks seemingly made of faux lamb's wool, stood in the middle—black girls in the front, white girls in the back. Then the entire album played without introduction or explanation. The women were backlit by glowing lights—mostly red and purple, sometimes strobing, often pulsing and sporadically illuminating. When "Love Lockdown" played three songs in, some of the models started sitting down on the floor, others going so far as to fully recline by the end of the album. Mos Def sat down front-and-center, Michael Rapaport talked excitedly to the security guards, Will.i.am watched from one end of the U the audience formed around the women, Rick Ross watched from the other end (even singing along to some songs after an apparent even sneakier sneak preview). As for album: yes, it's almost entirely sung by West, aside from one verse by Young Jeezy on "Amazing" and a duet with Lil Wayne; yes, it is sung almost entirely through Auto-Tune; yes, some people are not going to be sure what to make of it, but we applaud West's decision to step off a creative ledge wearing a jetpack that no one else is sure will actually work.

Despite what you think of the record, the promo won't stop, because it can't stop! Apple iTunes and Kanye has readied the promo video which is all over the net and it can be said to attribute to the very good sales of the single. Drake let me know that the album is crazy...so we can only wait to see where this goes.

Love Lockdown...final version?

I have done 1 or 2 posts on this song, but now 'Ye posted a studio version of the record on his blog. I am little reluctant to call this the final version, as I hope it isn't. The hook is a little sketchy as the levels are much lower than rest of the song...I am also not sure if it is completely mixed down. All that aside, I like the song! Heather has it nicely packaged up on ZShare...

UPDATE* Apparently the album is entitled "808's & Heartbreak" as opposed to title "Good Ass Job" that I had made reference to in an earlier post.

LATE UPDATE* ...this just came to me...perhaps the song is done as is as some sort of analogy for being flawed...human even. This in context of the relationship he is, dare I say, singing about. Rough around the edges, finding your voice etc. ...am I over reaching here?
