Common Projects Leather High Tops [SNEAKERS]

Not your typical sneaker...a luxury sneaker. CP has been on my radar for some time now, and they will remain on it with shoes like this. They are also available in black, and are up for grabs now over at Colette.

Fabolous feat. Keri Hilson - Everything, Everyday, Everywhere [VIDEO]

The album 'Loso's Way' in stores today.

Youth in Revolt [MOVIES]

This is the film adaptation of the cult classic epistolary novel by the same name written by C.D. Payne. The book, which has amassed quite the following since being published in 1993, follows the misadventures of a love-sick teen who stops just short of destroying the world in order to win the love of one Sheeni Saunders. Michael Cera plays said teen, Nick Twisp, while newcomer Portia Doubleday plays Sheeni. The film also boasts a pretty impressive supporting cast, including Steve Buscemi (as Nick's seedy, trailer-trash father), Zach Galifianakis, Justin Long, Fred Willard, Ray Liotta, Jean Smart and Ari Graynor.

Youth in Revolt
hits theaters on October 30th, 2009.

Omar Tehawkho – "Manly Posters" [ART]

Top 5 Male Occupations
5: Porn Star (International)
4: Porn Star (Local)
3: Mick Jagger
2: Lumberjack
1: Race Car Driver

I'd be little bit of 1, and 3...with a dash of 5.

Omar Tehawkho showcases a set of five vertically designed posters outlining they keys to being a man. Including Skills A Man Should Possess, 5 Step Plan For Making Your First Billion, 3+2 Things A Man Oughta Do in His Lifetime, Top 5 Male Occupations, and The 5 Key Steps of a Proper Shave, this amazing and humorous series is a great introduction to the work of Omar Tehawkho.

A collection of some of the most popular photographs of fashion enablers around the globe. A perfect conversation piece in my opinion. Hits shelves August 12th, 2009. Pre-Order available here.

*Related. Very interesting interview with The Globe & Mail..
“Every rapper says, If I was not doing this, I would be in jail. And basically, I’m a rapper, only I’m a photographer. So if I wasn’t doing this, I would definitely be in jail.”

2009 Gullwing-America 300 SL Panamericana [CARS]

There has been a influx of retro themed automobiles over the last few years, but the Gullwing has to be my favourite, and dare I say, the best of the bunch. Originally designed in 1951, the classic is now modern. Priced at around $140K it's not for most folks, but we can dream.

The 2009 Gullwing-America 300 SL Panamericana is the brainchild of Arturo Alonso, the same engineer behind the Bentley S3 E concept. With that model already on its way to market, Alonso has turned his attention to the Gullwing. With a body of fiberglass-reinforced aluminum over a powder-coated steel chassis, the Panamericana will apparently draw its power from Mercedes' own M-133-55 engine, the same 5.5-liter V8 underpinning the SLR McLaren's supercharged unit, albeit tuned to produce 370 horsepower. Plans are also afoot to make a smaller V6 available, either mated to a six-speed manual or a seven-ratio Speedtronic automatic transmission.

FTL: Dominic Jones - Black Leather Gloves w/ White Gold Nails [FASHION]

I'm not sure if it's because I've been conditioned to this kind of thing by some of my homegirls, but I am digging this right here! It could also be because of the cleavage...nonetheless, these gloves are ill. Check the look-book here, shot Matt Irwin.

Sprite Oral Sex Ad Banned In Germany [VIDEO]

Oh the EU!...or ewwww
Might be difficult picking a latter...

UPDATE:
The New York Press reports that a New York City-based director was responsible for the now-infamous Sprite ad, and that the spot was produced without Sprite's permission. The ad is the work of Max Issacson, and was not produced in Germany, according to the NY Press.

The NY Press spoke to John Jones IV, the male model pictured in the video: "The funny thing is, it's a spec commercial--it's not even real," Jones said.

Current TV initially reported that the ad had been banned from the air, for pretty obvious reasons. It combines oral sex and the desire for a refreshing Sprite to create a big finish that has to be seen to be believed. It even beats the climax of this similarly-themed ad.

WATCH: (UPDATE: Original ad was pulled from YouTube due to a copyright claim but you can view below courtesy of Young Turks here.

"Creation" To Lead Off Toronto International Film Festival [MOVIES]

In somewhat of a coincidence, I was going over Darwin's theories just yesterday, and in a serendipitous nature I wound up viewing the trailer for this film here.

The world premiere of Creation, a drama about evolution theorist Charles Darwin starring married actors Paul Bettany and Jennifer Connelly, has nabbed the opening night slot at this year's Toronto International Film Festival.

Organizers announced their selection of the British film on Tuesday morning, as well as 22 more additions to its gala and special presentations lineups.

"We have traditionally opened with a Canadian film, but this year we chose to go a different route. We fell in love with this movie and this is the one, we felt, really sets the tone for the kinds of conversations we hope will happen around the films at the festival," TIFF co-director Cameron Bailey told reporters on Tuesday.

He added that the "tension between faith and reason" seen in Jon Amiel's film Creation — which follows Darwin as he struggles with the views of his deeply religious wife and his world-changing theories — is also emerging in other films programmers have selected.

"This theme of that eternal conflict between faith and reason does seem to be emerging from different parts of the world, in different kinds of films: documentaries, fiction films, big films, small films," Bailey said.

Two American films and a Norse-Danish-German co-production have been added to the gala schedule:

* Precious, Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire, which won wide acclaim at Sundance.
* Get Low, starring Robert Duvall as a 1930s backwoods eccentric who stages his own funeral.
* Max Manus, a film based on the true story of Norway's famed Second World War resistance fighter.

As well, 18 new and recent titles — from noted filmmakers like Jane Campion, Steven Soderbergh and Johnnie To and featuring actors such as Clive Owen, Eva Green, Matt Damon, Edward Norton and Kristin Scott Thomas — were also added to the TIFF 2009 schedule as special presentations:

* The Boys are Back, Scott Hicks (Australia/U.K.).
* Bright Star, Jane Campion (U.K./Australia).
* City of Life and Death, Lu Chuan (China).
* Cracks, Jordan Scott (Ireland).
* Hadewijch, Bruno Dumont (France).
* The Informant, Steven Soderbergh (U.S.).
* The Invention of Lying, Ricky Gervais and Matthew Robinson (U.S.).
* Leaves of Grass, Tim Blake Nelson (U.S.).
* London River, Rachid Bouchareb (U.K./France/Algeria).
* Mao's Last Dance, Bruce Beresford (Australia/U.S./China).
* Moloch Tropical, Raoul Peck (Haiti/France).
* Mother, Bong Joon-ho (South Korea).
* Ondine, Neil Jordan (Ireland/U.S.).
* Partir, Catherine Corsini (France).
* Scheherazade Tell Me a Story, Yousry Nasrallah (Egypt).
* Solitary Man, Brian Koppelman and David Levien (U.S.)
* Valhalla Rising, Nicolas Vinding Refn (Denmark/U.K.).
* Vengeance, Johnnie To (Hong Kong/France).
* The Vintner's Luck, Niki Caro (New Zealand/France).

Further titles will be announced in the coming weeks, including this year's full Canadian lineup in August.

Moment Factory - Permanent Interactive LED wall [COOL]

Montreal next weekend?

Moment Factory developed the interactive system and designed the interactive content. PHOTONIC Dreams created the original LED video wall of La Vitrine, in Montreal.

The installation includes tracking devices and low-resolution LED displays and is capable of showing many different visualizations based on the presence and movement of people.

After entertaining themselves with the dynamic marquee of La Vitrine during the last two editions of the All-Nighter, Montreal residents, visitors and tourists will now be able to enjoy it every night! This interactive screen, which currently lights up La Vitrine Culturelle, is now equipped with a high-tech system, enabling passers-by to interact with light shapes generated by 35,000 LED light bulbs.

The fun and interactive nature of this installation is a new innovation of the Quartier des spectacles Lighting Plan, as it redefines the traditional architectural façade so as to enable passers-by to make it their own by interacting with the light shapes displayed. Thanks to the talent of the creators of Moment Factory, which was incidentally awarded the Grand Prix Créativité Montréal 2008 in the category Urban integration Urban planning for this installation, we are taking a new step toward the creation of a unique urban experience at the heart of Montreal!, says Charles Lapointe, the president of the Partnership.

Visitors can interact with the installation every night from 7 PM to 11 PM.

World's Largest Swimming Pool [COOL]

1 lap = 2km!!!

Drawing the crowds in the South American resort of San Alfonso del Mar in Chile, this artificial lagoon and swimming pool is eight hectares in size and contains an incredible 250,000 cubic metres of water. Acknowledged by Guinness World Records as being the world’s largest swimming pool, the lagoon trounces all other record holders in the category, including the Orthlieb pool in Casablanca, Morocco, itself a huge 150 metres by 100 metres – the San Alfonso pool is ten times this size, measuring 1km in length. The revolutionary clear water artificial lagoons, transparent to a depth of 35 metres and unprecedented in design and construction methods, are the brainchild of Crystal Lagoons founder, biochemist and Chilean businessman Fernando Fischmann. Equivalent in size to an incredible 6,000 standard domestic pools, details of its technology are to be unveiled for the first time at Cityscape Dubai.

Steven Holl Architects: Linked Hybrid [ARCHITECTURE]

WOW!

Linked Hybrid, a huge architectural project by Steven Holl, started in 2003 and was just recently completed. 220,000 square meters in size, the complex is located next to the site of the old city wall in Beijing and consists of eight towers connected by skybridges. Each structure holds different public functions and includes 750 apartments, public green space, commercial zones, a hotel, a cinemateque, a kindergarten, Montessori school, and underground parking. The aim of the project was to counter current urban developments by creating an urban space open to the public from all sides. The complex is a “city within a city” and promotes interactive relations and encounters amongst the public. The project was named the “best tall building” in Asia and Australia by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH).

(Probably a fake photo done up by someone with much time on their hands)

Not sure if any of you picked up the Chrome browser, but "The Google on the Internet Machine" is ready unleash the operating system in the second half of 2010 by the same name to bust the windows out your PC!

Google Chrome OS is a new project, separate from Android. Android was designed from the beginning to work across a variety of devices from phones to set-top boxes to netbooks. Google Chrome OS is being created for people who spend most of their time on the web, and is being designed to power computers ranging from small netbooks to full-size desktop systems. While there are areas where Google Chrome OS and Android overlap, we believe choice will drive innovation for the benefit of everyone, including Google.

Modelled after the highly popular Player timepiece. Nixon had originally released tge all rubber version of the watch in 4 colours (Yellow, Red, Blue, Green) which dropped one colour per month from March through June.
