Alper Yesiltas' Aged Artificial Intelligence Portraits [PHOTOGRAPHY]

A talented AI researcher and artist has brought an array of late celebrities back to life in photo form, as if they were still with us and aging for all these years. Celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Tupac Shakur, and Jimmy Hendrix are among those masterfully recreated by Alper Yesiltas, who believes AI can bring imagination to life – and looking at the photos, it’s hard to disagree.

“When I started tinkering with the technology, I saw what I could do and thought about what would make me the happiest: I wanted to see some of the people I missed again in front of me,” said Yesiltas to My Modern Met blog.

Henry's Photography Flagship Creator Space [COOL]

Henry's new flagship location at 185 Church Street in Toronto is a more open, interactive retail experience. The  location features a dedicated studio space that photographers, videographers, and content creators can use to meet, learn, record, and collaborate. Mark Diker from Henry's puts it best "We want to create a space for creators to gather, collaborate and share. Plus why not use some of our great gear before buying!"

I personally love the concept, and look forward to using the space personally. It's super cool to have something like this from a company that has the kind heritage and creditability that Henry's has not only within the space, but in the city. Learn more here.

Marine Debris Typeface [FONTS]

This creation is a full set of letters made up of the 2041 pieces of junk Star went onto collect. From the start, the designer set a few guidelines: no bottles, cans, plastic bags or candy wrappers. He only wanted pieces that had washed up on shore. He also committed to keeping everything as-is. “The rules were to find the letterforms as they were, with no manipulation of any kind,” he says. “With some letters it would have been easy to bend or twist something to fit–but that would have been cheating my own rules. I enjoyed the idea that this was just a search and I didn’t have to do any thinking, just walk and observe.”

You can see all 2041 pieces in Star’s short film HERE, and when the typeface is released later this year, every single one of his pieces will be included, even if it’s only useful as ornamentation.

Instagram Digital Camera [GADGETS]

Currently only a concept, but after Facebook’s $1 Billion dollar acquisition of Instagram, and designer Antonio De Rosa's brilliant mock up design and bid for funding, this might have the steam to become the 21st century’s Polaroid. If brought into production the camera would retail for $350, with contributors being promised a discount on their purchase of the final product.

Would you like to own a standalone handheld of the auto-tune of photography? You can support the project on the money-raising platform Indiegogo in order to create a real-life version of the device.

Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park [COOL]

A friendly reminder here, if you dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball… and now you can do it in 3D! If this isn’t the cool, you probably need to get your head checked. Also, if I catch you in the face with one my patented throws I’ve aptly titled “In your face”, you should probably get your head checked.

This is a long way from dodgeball’s humble beginnings in the 15th Century, where it was invented by Opium-addictive Chinamen. But back then, the Chinamen threw severed heads at each other. Now in the 21st century Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park has created and built the world’s first all-trampoline, walled playing courts. It's a playing court so original and unique, it was awarded a United States patent.

Sky Zone offers fun physical activities, games and entertainment for people of all ages, size and abilities. They host birthday parties for kids, corporate team building events for adults, SkyRobics fitness classes, high performance cross training for athletes at the high school and collegiate level to the professional level, intramural sports for colleges and more.

Here is the most expensive in the world of casinos, bars, restaurants, the largest outdoor swimming pool, 150 meters long and even the Museum of Modern Art.

Streets of Monaco Yacht [LUXURY]

I initially contemplated the theme "[RAUTICAL]" for this post. It seemed fitting as this is a rather radical nautical concept. Imagine you're yacht designed to a tee, as a recreation of your favourite city on earth. Now let's say your favourite city on earth was Monaco. With price tag of about $1Billion, your private city on the sea consists to scale constructions of the Monte Carlo Casino, Hotel de Paris, Cafe de Paris, as well as the Grand Prix course, functioning as a go-kart course on the deck of this 500-foot watercraft. Other features include multiple swimming pools, a multi-use court for basketball and tennis that doubles as a helipad, a submarine, an interior "oasis" area, space for up to 16 guests and 70 staff members, a spa, and, of course, a swim-up jacuzzi bar. I'd like to sit down with the designer and create the city of Shangri-La.

“Peggy & Don” [ART]

Don: I am sorry if I embarrassed you…

Peggy: Shhhhhh

I’m watching Mad Men and pause; I love this. The scene was just classic, and warm. I did it over in water colour and I loved it even more.

Douglas Coupland x Roots Canada [ART]

This is exciting.

Big news from the Great White North. “Canadian-based clothing retailer Roots recently collaborated with prominent writer and visual artist Douglas Coupland on a range of items from apparel, accessories, leather goods to design items, furniture and original art. Best known as the internationally best-selling author of “Generation X”, “All Families Are Psychotic”, “JPod” and for his art creations, this is the first time Coupland has designed fashion wearables.”

Colette has taken the collection, which will launch in September.

iRetrofone Base [GADGETS]

I always tell people that I believe I'd be very comfortable living in the 50's or 60's...fine gaberdine, wing-tips, skinny ties, minus the hyper-bigotry it would be perfect. The iRetrofone Base will allow me to bridge that gap every time I make or receive a phone call...all I need is my iRetrophone Rotary Phone App and endless supply of top shelf whisky. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go call Bets!

Finger In The Nose [FASHION]

I was in NYC a few months ago and while there I was hanging out with a good friend of mine. Her and I got the talking and the conversation made its way to where she was explaining that she is starting to think about having kids more and more...which in turn made me think about having kids more and more. The idea of family and children? Good, right? Well, this makes that idea the best. Finger In The Nose. Clever name...

The brand stresses quality using 9-11 ounce denim with raw, stone, bleach, snow and leather-look washes, and real feather down for their jackets and Geelong merino angora for their knitwear. I have a nephew or niece (too early to tell) on the way, and he or she is sure to be the coolest in the sandbox...even with a finger in the nose.

IKEA's Paris Subway Displays [ADVERTISING]

Throughout the month of March the worlds favourite Swedish furniture big box invaded popular metro stations in the city of Paris, and decorated them with couches, and decals of bookshelves along with other IKEA accessories. Creative? Yes, and and worth the risk of never getting the smell of the homeless out all of this stuff.

2011 Land Rover LRX [CARS]

It was like love at first sight...I've nicknamed this the "Baby-Rover". I have sliden it into a close 2nd (#1 is the Lexus GS) as my favourite vehicle -- though technically this will not hit dealerships until the 3rd quarter of 2011. The concept turned reality is a 2 door SUV rumoured to be a presented as a hybrid equiped with a 3.0 diesel V6 engine and an electric motor turning out up to 25kW. I'm not mad that...I'll take mine with cream on the inside, and clean on the outside.

Wally x Hermès "WHY" Yacht [COOL]

Wally and Hermès colloborated on what is being called a yacht/island hybrid. The Wally Hermès WHY Yacht is a floating island that hosts a 200 square meter master suit with its own 25 meter-wide terrace, five guest suites, a 30 meter "beach" on the ocean-accessible stern, a screening room, music room, open dining room, and a 25m pool around the helipad, as well as a host of green features, including 900 square meters of solar panels, and a diesel-electric propulsion system that, in conjunction with the unique design, saves up to 200 tons of diesel per year. I'll take 2!

Heroine T-Shirts [FASHION]

Justin R Saunders aka J-Sheik has been in doing his thing for a while now...though subtly, yet at the same time quite frank. This collection of t-shirts, under the brand "Heroine", is the type of stuff those livin' a "who's who, what's what" type of lifestyle will appreciate.
