Your Brain Is Racist! [THOUGHT]

Well not quite, but our brains make us empathise with people of the same race. At least according to a report published in Journal Experimental Social Psychology. The study which was performed with a group of white men by asking them watch videos of Asian, black, and white men drinking a glass of water. As they watched the film clips the scientists monitored brain activity to see whether their brains mimicked the action. The result? The men's brains lit up most when watching someone of their own race. Not imperical data, but this much I'm convinced by, people are born with a tendency to group others on how like themselves they are ...that being said, "racism still alive, they just be concealing it!"

Drake - Find Your Love [MUSIC]

Probably the biggest non Justin Bieber record on the web right now. How do I feel about it? Very 808 & Heartbreak-esque...minus the heartbreak/auto-tune. Nevertheless, it is heartfelt. I just wish I couldn't really compare it to anything, which I suppose is difficult because Kanye did actually produce the track. That aside it's an effort that will ultimately allow big homie to maintain a buzz so big he could sell a blank disc this summer.

Minority Report x Blu-Ray [MOVIES]

It was no more than a week ago that some friends and I were talking about Minority Report, and it being a on a list of our favourite films. A large chunk of it's appeal was due to the fact that this movie made the future look cool as fu*k! Watching this tech-thiller on Blu-Ray would be pretty dope by itself, but we also get bonus footage including a featurette going over the creation of many of the futuristic gadgets, as well as play-by-play with Steven Spielberg dissecting his film, in way I presume, only he can.

Available now on ($20) Amazon.

iRetrofone Base [GADGETS]

I always tell people that I believe I'd be very comfortable living in the 50's or 60's...fine gaberdine, wing-tips, skinny ties, minus the hyper-bigotry it would be perfect. The iRetrofone Base will allow me to bridge that gap every time I make or receive a phone call...all I need is my iRetrophone Rotary Phone App and endless supply of top shelf whisky. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go call Bets!

Laugh Out Wednesday [VIDEO]

It was announced a little while back that Jay-Z will appear on the May 8th episode of SNL hosted by Betty White...that being said, let's take it back to an earlier episode that featured Jay. It's the Roc and Robert Goulet bitch!

Caribana 2010 Launch [SUMMER 2010]

With the launch of the 2010 Caribana campaign it is definitely time to start thinking about my favourite soca records (though there aren't a whole lot), dancehall anthems, hotel rooms, and perfecting my pelvic thrusts. Happening during the juciest part of the summer (July 15th to August 2nd), and having an estimated financial impact of $438-million dollars to the city of Toronto for 2009, without question this is going to be, as always, a festival of epic proportions. I have an older brother out in Virginia who has yet to check out T.O...I explained all of this to him last night, and he has assured me this will be the summer!

For more information on events, playing mass etc. check out: http://www.caribanafestival.com/

IdeaLL Clothing Wealth Series [FASHION]

Designer Bryan "Be" Espiritu does what I like to call this passion fashion. Never before has there been more blood, sweat, and tears put into a brand. You can feel the energy, and the meticulousness from the design to presentation of each piece. You then couple that with originality and you have the one of the iLLest brands out. Rumor has it there is a chambray 5-panel that is part of this collection...that's about to be my by crown for the summer!

Babies [MOVIES]

Using the momentum from the previous post, it reminded of a trailer I seen last week that I wanted to post. A documentary entitled "Babies". It is a story that simultaneously follows from birth, four babies around the world, from Mongolia to Namibia to San Francisco to Tokyo. You your along for a ride that is their first year of life, and journey into humanity. Watching the trailer you can't help but smile at what is unique yet so universal.

Finger In The Nose [FASHION]

I was in NYC a few months ago and while there I was hanging out with a good friend of mine. Her and I got the talking and the conversation made its way to where she was explaining that she is starting to think about having kids more and more...which in turn made me think about having kids more and more. The idea of family and children? Good, right? Well, this makes that idea the best. Finger In The Nose. Clever name...

The brand stresses quality using 9-11 ounce denim with raw, stone, bleach, snow and leather-look washes, and real feather down for their jackets and Geelong merino angora for their knitwear. I have a nephew or niece (too early to tell) on the way, and he or she is sure to be the coolest in the sandbox...even with a finger in the nose.

Fight Club Soap Bar [COOL]

Chuck Palahniuk's 1996 novel turn cult classic film has effected many, including yours truly. You can now celebrate this by bathing with the bar of soap made famous from the film's artwork. (unnecessary nuance: *not the original soap graphic on the cover of the novel) Fight Club Soap ($25/2-pack). Oh, and in case you forgot the rules:

1. You don't talk about fight club.
2. You don't talk about fight club.
3. When someone says stop, or goes limp, even if he's just faking it, the fight is over.
4. Only two guys to a fight.
5. One fight at a time.
6. They fight without shirts or shoes.
7. The fights go on as long as they have to.
8. If this is your first night at fight club, you have to fight

Impossible Project PX SilverShade Polaroid Film [FINALLY]

I purchased 2 vintage Polaroid camera's a while back, and to my dismay I was unable to get my photobug on because film was very hard to come by. However, the Impossible Project, an outfit that purchased much of Polaroid's film production factory has finally released it's first batch of film. I am looking forward to putting up some of what I capture on the blog soon...it's going to be a great summer.

Impossible's new PX Instant films are dedicated to all the people who feel a similar passion for the magic of analog Instant Photography as we do. Carefully manufactured to slowly develop in the palms of their hands. The development of PX SilverShade monochrome Instant Films is based on sensitive chemical reactions, triggered by light and affected by various parameters such as Exposure, Temperature, ASA, Opacification, Pressure and Manipulations.

IKEA's Paris Subway Displays [ADVERTISING]

Throughout the month of March the worlds favourite Swedish furniture big box invaded popular metro stations in the city of Paris, and decorated them with couches, and decals of bookshelves along with other IKEA accessories. Creative? Yes, and and worth the risk of never getting the smell of the homeless out all of this stuff.

Tina Fey x Esquire Magazine April 2010 [COVER]

On being dubbed the thinking man's woman...Tina's retort:

"What I've come to realize is that when people say, 'The thinking man's whatever' — there's no such thing. The thinking man also wants to fuck Megan Fox."

I love this lady.
