Obama's Presidential Limo Will Be a 'Rolling Tank With Windows'

I feel a little better knowing he's rolling around in automotive forcefield.

The inauguration of Barack Obama will not only bring about a wholesale turnover in the political leadership of the country but it will also unveil the newest in a long line of Presidential limos.

According to Presidential vehicle experts, the new limo is a beast-like General Motors truck-based Cadillac that is so tough it's like a 'rolling tank with windows.'

Among the vehicle's main features are windows that are 5 inches thick, 19.5-inch Goodyear RHS tires (same as super tough trucks), and possibly even a lock safety mechanism that seals off the car like a bank vault in case of an emergency.

Because the Secret Service keeps details of the limo understandably private, even the most knowledgeable security experts don't really know how much gadgety tech is being installed in the new ride. But it's not stopping them making a few informed guesses.

In an interview with CNN, security expert Ken Lucci says rubber gaskets likely protect the car against chemical weapons and that the body will be made out of a tougher material than before. The most recent limo used by President Bush used some combination of a dual hardness steel, aluminum, titanium and even ceramics to break up possible projectiles. And there are usually steel overlaps that cover any gaps a door might leave.

Despite the immense secrecy, reports have leaked that the limo also comes with a 10-CD changer, which will inevitably end up playing Obama favorites like Steve Wonder and Bob Dylan. We're surprised there's no Blu-ray or Wii in there, but we're pretty sure of one thing: The limo will be a Zune-free zone, especially considering the most recent reports.

Despite it all...Folks Are Voting For Obama!

This is an amazing piece of news! As clock ticks away toward the end of the presidential election in the U.S. It become more and more clear that a lot of people are planning to vote for Obama. This is weather they really like him or not! An e-mail sent from a staunch Republican about a focus group he hosted tells the story:

Reagan Dems and Independents. Call them blue-collar plus. Slightly more Target than Walmart.

Yes, the spot worked. Yes, they believed the charges against Obama. Yes, they actually think he's too liberal, consorts with bad people and WON'T BE A GOOD PRESIDENT...but they STILL don't give a f***. They said right out, "He won't do anything better than McCain" but they're STILL voting for Obama.

The two most unreal moments of my professional life of watching focus groups:

54 year-old white male, voted Kerry '04, Bush '00, Dole '96, hunter, Nascar fan...hard for Obama said: "I'm gonna hate him the minute I vote for him. He's gonna be a bad president. But I won't ever vote for another god-damn Republican. I want the government to take over all of Wall Street and bankers and the car companies and Wal-Mart run this county like we used to when Reagan was President."

The next was a woman, late 50s, Democrat but strongly pro-life. Loved B. and H. Clinton, loved Bush in 2000. "Well, I don't know much about this terrorist group Barack used to be in with that Weather guy but I'm sick of paying for health insurance at work and that's why I'm supporting Barack."

I felt like I was taking crazy pills. I sat on the other side of the glass and realized...this really is the Apocalypse. The Seventh Seal is broken and its time for eight years of pure, delicious crazy....

To quote D.L. Hughley
"George Bush is such a bad president that the country is going -- we're going to vote for the black guy. That should tell you how bad of the last eight years have been."

Obama Vs. McCain Round 2!

Alright...I'm gearing up for debate. (Precisely 6 minutes away at this point) Just like the last time...I advise you to get your CNN on!

*LATE Update: Technical victory for Obama...no knock out.

Scotiabank projects recession in Canada, U.S.

Lights out bitc*es! If don't know well now you know that stock prices, and credit markets are crumbling. It is happening more so in the US than in Canada presently, but as most people will tell you when the US sneezes Canada catches a cold. This has led experts to believe that a recession is inevitable...no not Jeezy's album (though a solid piece of work)but an actual a significant decline in economic activity spread across real income, employment levels, industrial production, and wholesale-retail sales paints a bleak 2009...

OTTAWA — Economists are gutting their forecasts for Canada's growth next year as the United States slides into recession and pulls the rest of the world down with it.

A Bank of Nova Scotia forecast to be published on Tuesday projects a recession for both Canada and the United States.

And Goldman Sachs is warning that its outlook for Canada, to be released later this week, is going to be significantly weaker as well.

“Although Canada has been somewhat more insulated from the direct impact of the credit crisis, it will not escape the effects of a significant contraction in U.S. consumer spending over the next few quarters,” Goldman Sachs economist Andrew Tilton said in a note to clients late Sunday. “As a result, we will be revising down our estimates for Canadian exports and overall growth.”

Today 7 Years Ago...

I was in high school at the time, and I remember being in class when we heard news that a plane had hit the World Trade Center tower. We immediately postponed studies and began watching coverage on the television. The class watched with sheer astonishment...this before the amplification of what is now known as "terrorism" was simply terrifying. I know life can become pretty depressing when you start thinking about all the horrible things that have happened and are happening in the world, but on a day like this, I find it very humbling to be able to reflect on fortune I have amassed in life experience and love. My sincerest condolences to anyone who has lost loved in this horrible incident, and I can only hope that world can begin to be steered in a better direction.

Award-winning photojournalist James Nachtwey has put together a series of photographs for TIME that captures some of the most sensational moments on this day 7 years ago... More pictures after the jump.

To: Libya...Love, U.S.A.

Shown in the photo above is US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi in Tripoli, Libya as they hash out details to expand diplomacy and play nice in what is a real life game of Risk. If you are unaware of the history of Libya and the U.S.A, well The United States is restoring full diplomatic relations with Libya and removing the North African country from its list of state sponsors of terrorism after 27 years. This is really interesting news, and I would only imagine it is being done to shore up positive relations in the Arab world. Oh! And for some sweetheart oil deals. Currently Libya is supplying 5% of the US's oil supply, and I am pretty sure they'd like a little more.
